i agree with you wholeheartedly.this goes with all classical companies.EMI has Rattle/BPO.who needs another schubert 9th,La mer,etc.i MIGHT buy a rbcd if its modern classical but i have ABSOLUTELY no reason to buy RBCD from the central classical repertoire because i already have it.I am sure this is the case with most classical listeners.so,for all practical purposes,there is no reason for classical listeners to buy RBCD because they are likely to already own the central repertoire.i would be very tempted to re-buy the central repertoire on sacd.i have bought the MTTMahler series,the Tchaikovsky by Gatti/RPO,the Beethoven cycle with Vanska/Minnesota.i would balance sacd purchases with "artistic" value in mind also.in other words,i am not going to buy anything just because it's sacd.i'm not just buying the technology.
