Ted asked, "could you recommend some PCM recordings that are more transparent than DSD recordings?"The challenge was to find PCM that actually sounded good.
Canonball Adderly’s: Somethin' Else on Classic Records HDAD is an example of well-done analog to PCM transfer, no where do I state they were better than the Classic Records LP versions.
If you knew me you would know I believe nothing beats Analog.
My entire quote was "A 1958 analog recording, it sounds so good especially at 192 kHz! Just like listening to a perfectly quiet LP pressing. This is the recording that shows me there is hope for high resolution PCM to sound is realistic as Analog."
What I am saying is that this PCM "sounds like" a great LP. Just as the 45 rpm Classic records are superior to their 33 rpm versions, I would never expect a Digital recording no matter how high the resolution to totally equal an audiophile 33 rpm LP much less an 45 rpm LP. We have to be realistic here, this is a big step for Digital just to even get close to the resolution of analog.
Happy listening,
Teresa

- I too agree the Classic LP versions are superior. But that was NOT the question I answered - Teresa 04:39:02 05/06/06 (1)
