New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

I gave you the math, are you not aware that the width SACD jewel cases are about 2-3 times thicker than most LP covers?

Even a gatefold LP cover is not as thick as a SACD jewel case. Thus even though SACDs are smaller, more LPs can be stored in the same space.

Now what box you want me think out of I am not sure? The only restrictions I put on myself are the absolute maximum of items in my collection. This cannot grow beyond my living quarters. And there is not any floor space available for except behind my speakers and not putting cases there. I feel 600 recordings in all formats are all I need, I just purge when I need more space.

What chains do you want me to shatter that bind me to the past? If you are talking about "analog", I believe analog is both past and future. It is only a matter of time before we can give up translating music from Analog to Digital and back to Analog as we will someday have a laser read format that can actually store a complete waveform. When that happens 1's and 0's will no longer be needed or desired. LaserDisc was not such a format as the Analog waveform had to be Frequency Modulated (FM).

BTY I like the sound of LPs much better than SACDs. And I get really excited when I find an SACD that equals one of my LPs or that very rare occasion when SACD betters one of my LPs.

Also I want all of my recordings to actually be playable on the first try, I shouldn't have to spend 15 minutes or longer to try to trick my player into playing a recording! I now have researched as much as I can on the tubed SACD players. Most are Chinese made and most eventually have trouble reading the TOC. That only leaves Solid State, and there is a Level 5 tube upgrade for my 9000ES but I still don't trust it to keep playing hybrids for years on end because it is a Sony transport.

With LPs my headaches are keeping my records and stylus clean and everything balanced. But when I put my stylus in the groove music comes out. And that is what I want is to hear: the music in the most enjoyable way possible. Is this so hard to understand?
