Moody Blues 5 Set - Astonishing

The kind FedEx man turned up at work this morning with a big parcel for me - the 5 Moody Blues SACD’s finally arrived!

I've listened to them all now, and I’m floored by these discs. The packaging is just deluxe, glossy, gate-fold with really good interesting booklets, and brilliant artwork. Just oozing quality. The actual discs themselves are just jaw dropping. Apart from In Search Of The Lost Chord, they’re all the 1972 quad masters turned into 5.1, and they’re lovely - warm, delicate, balanced, and with that old-school comfyness so often missing these days. You can wrap yourself in them and just float away. In fact, the quality is so good that even ISOTLC is wondefully deep and wide. After the crappy CD’s I’m used to this is something else - never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that these 60's/early 70's recordings could sound so, so good.

I simply couldn’t be happier with this set - it really fills me with hope to know that their are studios even in todays cynical world who will go to such trouble to produce a set of albums of such high qaulity.

It’s releases like this which make me smile, and just drive home why I love SACD so much. Sigh. Wonderful.

Cheers,
Paul.
