I just did exactly the same thing. Out went the TV.
Now put sound treatment panels (2'x4'x2" O-C 703)on the walls and bass traps (stacks of 40 sq ft rolls of R-13) in the corners. I spent just $200 on that, burlap to cover them, plywood to staple it to and hooks to hang them like pictures.
A bigger step up in quality than moving the furniture.
