My 5 year old Sony E9000ES fails to play. Sony will repair and I am planing on sending it in. My question is: Has the technology improved in the last few years such that a new player (Universal) in the under $1000 price range would sound better than the old Sony. I heard a cheap Marantz today and it sounds darn good. Anyone have recomendations on a player that will outperform the Sony on Redbook and SACD for under a grand?
