Until Decca gets around to releasing Dvorak's 6th Symphony with Kertesz conducting the LSO on SACD you always listen to the LP version if you have an excellent turntable. There is no reason to settle for this awful SACD, no reason whatsoever! We are talking Classical Music and as great a singer as Patricia Barber is she is not Dvorak nor are any of the DMP recordings you mentioned. You are comparing apples to oranges.
There are many record lables producing SACDs that let you have you cake and eat it too. In other words excellent performances with excecllent sonics: RCA Living Stereo, Mercury Living Presense, Telarc, BIS, Hyperion, Channel Classics and Delos come to mind.
Excellent sound quality and excellent perforamces make an excellent combination. Thus this is what I strive for. Compromise is so last century, we do not have to compromise anymore!
Happy listening,
Teresa
