Having read the postings in this thread I am impressed by the honesty of the writers. Most(all?)quite clearly admit that their preference is sound quality over musical performance. Therein lies the problem of this hobby to normal peole.For myself I will continue to buy LSO Live. Those superb Haitink Brahms symphonies, the Davis Sibelius discs and his definitive Elgar performances (BBC Radio 3 choosing this performance of the second above all other modern ones - their second choice was recorded in 1945 - how's that for performance over sound quality?).
Anyway you guys can always comfort yourselves with some Patricica Barber or stuff on DMP and similar labels.
