of the same Pictures of an Exhibition vs. the Szell Epic LP and some redbook (only one available) of some Chinese Gospel arrangements of Psalms and prayers. The SACD of Reiner's recordings certainly have a wonderful bass extension, although I never heard the LP's on a good set up and can't compare directly. And, they are soft, smooth in the high frequencies and have a huge soundstage (Dvorak and Moussorgsky). I have some of the Heifetz on thrift store LP's and the Cliburn PC disc also, and on the last, the overall effect was close between SACD and LP (used shaded dog, OK condition), but the SACD had better low bass on my old tt.
My Pioneer DV 47Ai is warming up even more after 2 years of playing it, and would much improve with a mod, but no one except RAM wants to do it. I have been thinking about a DAC recently, but for the time being, want to upgrade my analog first.
