Perhaps you are thinking of the Shaw/Atlanta Symphony recording of "The Bells" with Renee Fleming. It's hard to describe it as being sung in English, since it is largely unintelligible even with the English text in hand, but it sure ain't Russian. With the poor audio of the recording, which is muddy and poorly balanced, this CD is a real disappointment. Given that group of soloists and the exceptional Atlanta chorus, it should have been a blockbuster. "The Bells" is a terrific choral symphony.
