Hello KS,Where are you swapping op-amps, in the output stage?
Using a DVM, on the existing op-amps measure pins 4 & 8, if it is "single" op-amp pin 4 will be ground, if "dual" pin 4 is negative supply.
In my experience the AD797 although possibly the best contender for low noise can be prone to oscillation in some circuits.
I’d say fit high quality DIL sockets and experiment with the OPA627 (if of course the existing op-amps are single types).
