I thought she who must be obeyed left some time ago...3 meters is long IMO but the way to have your cake AND eat it is to use very thin foil rather than thicker wire. We are out of stock of the silver foil but 50mm wide ultra thin copper foil is available from places like RS or Farnell - and that will sound great if you make up the same foil cable format as in the book.
