In Reply to: Allen I prefer the solid copper core cables over twisted for interconnects. But on speaker cables I disagree. posted by Teresa on October 24, 2005 at 17:35:43:
- but unless you've tried what I suggest then you shouldn't diss it!I'm not saying $1 worth of 30 gauge is the best speaker cable in the world - but it may open someones eyes (ears?) to the possibilities of a whole different level of resolution in their system - and they may stay with it until they can afford a really hi-resolution cable that provides the same resolution withthe bass impact you love. .
If you are so keen on the WHOOMPH effects of THICK cables, I'm not surprised you couldn't hear the beauty in the Walter Lilly SACD you sent me - it needed extreme fine detail resolution to get what it offered - and that is what cables using THICK conductors just flat out lose.
Audioquest/Kimber/etc use bunches of seperately insulated thin conductors (aka Litz) to get towards the best of both worlds - my optimum approach is to use very thin foils a la Goertz & Nordost.
