DkB:Yeah, it is somewhat of an inconvenience, but it happens SO rarely that it doesn't bother me nearly as much as it once did. Unlike you, I've had a number of SACD players have the same problem, so I'm not terribly worried about it. I don't feel the need to trade mine in for a Mk. II--at least not yet. They'll be a Mk. III next year when Phillips discontinues the current transport, and I don't want to get into a cycle of annual trading-in--especially when there's no significant improvements in reliability or sonics. That's my take on the issue. Enjoy the EMM combo--it's staggeringly good.
