through my sony ns500v, the best sounding cdp i have had in my system (so much for the 'dvd players dont sound good' crowd!). i DO sorta wish i had that CAL sigma (tubed) dac to try once more that i borrowed from a dealer. my friend bought it without ever taking it back to the store.but even my non-audiophile 23yr old daughter said it sounded like someone was in the living room singing with incubus. i truly didnt expect that improvement. you know how people LOVE to say you hear improvements you WANT to hear. this was unexpected like the sound of my arc sp3a1 was as well. no typical tube sound THERE!
i attribute the improvement to upsampling which sony does not trumpet about. look at the harrassment dudley took in stereophile.
