Many moons ago I listened to a live performance of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" with the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher hall. I thought it was quite good and wondered what the drawbucks would be to recording it "live-to-DSD" if you will (warts, coughs, cellphone beepers page-turning, etc. included) ?We might not be able to get studio recordings because of musician-union labor rates but what's the hold up with live performances ?
