As a Non-engineer -- How do I know which XA777ES modder to choose. ??? (LONG)

I am considering a mod of my XA777ES with either Richard Kerns or Kyle Takenaga. Sonically I would like to increase the resolution / detail, air and soundstage depth, and imaging without sacrificing musicallity. I listen to 95% acoustic jazz, small group.

My current system: (great wide soundstage, good resolution and air, great tonality, lacks soundstage depth, imaging ok)
Magnepan 3.6r fronts, 1.6qr rears
Bel Canto Pre6
California Audio Labs 2500 MCA (500 x 5 run in 2 and 4 ch modes)
Sony SCD XA777ES, SCD C555ES, Arcam FMJ DV27A
ICs: Nordost Blue Heaven (preferred), Kimber Hero & Harmonic Tech
Truthlink SCs: Synergistic Research Alpha Quad X2 Active

Does anyone have any experince with these modifications below, or the specific parts to help me understand what chages in sound may occur ?? Will battery powered clock make that much difference as this adds an external box to the equation ???

Kerns recommends:
Package One changes ever cap inside the player to Black Gate and includes the Super Clock 3 and 5 Super Regulators in the power supply.
Package Two includes the mods listed above and adds Vishay Resistors
to all three audio boards.
Black Gates will give you a wide, deep sound stage with lots of air around the instruments.

Takenaga recommends:
Redesigned output stage including Audio Consulting Silver Coupling transformers, Rubycon ZA/ZL decoupling, WBT RCA's for stereo 2 channel. A Superclock 3 for dramatically lower jitter. The Superclock 3 is powered by a extreme quality battery supply for reference performance. The batteries are mounted into a custom made external oak chassis with convenient automatic charging.
Removes a stock "greyness" to the sound. Adds lifelike character and "you are there" quality.

Thanks
AL
