I think there might be a few good "all arounder" headphones albeit in a few different price categories. Things like finish quality and the level of resolution goes up as you pay more, of course. There might be better headphones for this or that, but for all around listening I'd say: Audio Technica ATH-M50 in the sub $200 range, Beyerdynamic DT880 (600 ohm version) or AKG K702 in the sub $500 range, Denon or Hifiman in the sub $1000 range, and probably Beyerdynamic T-1 or Sennheiser HD800 in expensive open class range. (I'm not saying that any of the above 'phones are very easy to drive, however...)
