I’ve come to realise that many of the “audiophile†DVD-A companies employ multiple miking. I’m not saying that an audiophile company cannot use more than 6 mics for a multi-channel recording but when they say on their discs that no compression or equalization was used, I’ve assumed that they were minimally miked till now!
Two such companies seem to be:
AIX, ArtsWhat miking techniques do these companies use?
Tacet, MDGI assume that non-audiophile companies generally do multiple miking,. Does anyone know the recording techniques of these companies:
DG, Teldec, Naxos, Silverline, DTSAlthough Hodie seems to be the only company always providing a 192/24 stereo track, they seem to do multiple miking too!
I was recently alerted about this after watching the DVD-Video section of Aix & Hodie DVD-As.
