Another calculation

Let's assume that I don't need to listen at 110dB. In fact, let's assume I only need to listen to music at around 85dB, since I like to preserve my hearing.

Uncompressed music have transient peaks up to 25dB above average. So, entering a desired level of 85dB into the calculator, but with a headroom of 25dB gives the result of 529 watts.

So, in other words, my "overkill" amplifiers are not even capable of playing back music at 85dB without some clipping of transients.
