Tunenut,
I’m also a SACD supporter, from the very beginning, BUT I also recognize qualities in DVD-A format. My personal collection of DVD-A reaches 45 titles at the moment. SACD are 150% more that value!
Were DVD-A disappoints everyone is that the so-called "Advanced Audio Resolution" audio for Stereo tracks is a BIG lie on most titles!
That DOES NOT happen on almost every SACD titles!
I think that there are enough public for both formats, I speak for myself!
Unfortunately DVD Audio camp is now pushing DualDisc on everyone, increasing even more low resolution titles by using and abusing LPCM or PCM 2.0 Stereo tracks. That is really unbelievable. Here in Europe SACD increases it's "audience" day by day. You can ONLY get titles on sale, directly to the public in real stores, in Germany, England and few other countries.
Most people in Europe get them from Amazon! I do!This discussion saying SACD on DVD-A is dead I think it's useless. In the end, people don't forget that what matters is the music, and nowadays the "High Resolution Stereo AND Multichannel" tracks.
DualDisc is in my opinion OUT!
Best regards,
Hugo Rosa.
