The MLP encoder does a bit-by-bit comparison of the original LPCM file to the re-decoded MLP file. This is done automatically as part of the encoding process. In case of any difference the encoding process is terminated immediately and you receive an error message.So you won't ever come across a DVD-A disc with "pathological cases where MLP has losses".
