Grant Geissman speaks for himself...

Just so that things are perfectly clear about recording levels and AIX products. The Geissman disc is NOT recorded at a low volume...if you experience the entire disc, there are moments when the band (mostly the drums) gets loud enough to achieve maximum level. That is the very idea of leaving the real world dynamics in tact during the recording and post production stages of a "purist" product. I believe that removing dynamic processing gives music a great emotional impact. But it does mean that the average (or RMS) level of the disc is much lower than most commercial recordings.

As an example, when I listen to the radio or other discs in my ACURA TL audio system the volume level is set at about 5-10. When I listen to the Geissman or Juber (or any other AIX Records disc), I have to increase the volume to about 25-30. You can be sure that when the drummer hits a rim shot you will know it!
