You are correct that there is a misunderstanding of acoustic suspension as well as driver types. Take for example DALI's and T+A's magnetostatic drivers, which people assume are straight-up ribbons.
It's true, technically, that a lot get these types of things flat-out wrong. But reviewers don't have to be hyper-technical. The key is to stay away from being that technical so that one doesn't get into trouble.
