First of all, I think you meant "Libelous", not slanderous. Look them up.Second, Mr. Perry had never posted here and he seemed to show up when needed.
"The manufacturer should take it to the editor or owner of the publication." He did, but this rarely happens. Manufacturers usually say nothing - the mantra being "Don't p*** off the reviewer".
"If he gets no satisfaction, then he should boycott the publication by not advertising in it and not submitting review samples." ~ is like tellng a rape victim to never date the rapist again. Telling the victim to shut up and say nothing leaves the extortionist free to act again and takes away one of the few sources of exposure for the advertiser.
"Perhaps you would like to run some of these accusatory letters in YOUR publication".
If I thought it would have any effect, I would present both sides, but I am not an arbitrator. Maybe a panel could be set up with 2 former publishers or editors and 2 former manufacturers just for this purpose. That would be much better than airing things here or anywhere else. Both manufacturers and press people might be more careful what they say and how they act if they knew there was some recourse.
I'm sorry, what publication do YOU write for? ;)
