There seem to be no direct allegations here about illegality. Evidently their marketing style bothers you. However, it is a common marketing style and widely seen in many areas of commerce for all manner of products. That would indicate it is a successful marketing strategy; otherwise it would be dropped in favor of something more effective. That's the way things work in the world of advertising and marketing.Your options as a consumer are to buy or not buy the product. Now if enough people had your response and didn't buy, the company would look at the numbers and say "Oops, we need to try something different."
As it is, you seem to be in the minority (confirmed by the general tenor of the responses you're getting.) I too am not ground zero for the demographics of very many marketing campaigns but that is fine by me. I've got bigger battles in life than spending time demanding that advertising campaigns be centered around my personal requirements.
Perhaps you need to turn your attitude upside down and instead be proud their their marketing gimmick didn't pull you in.
