It's looking really good! Nothing weird about combining the resistors to get the exact value. I've seen it done many times before but not as neatly as yours. Did you buy the entire kit then source several (but not all) of the parts on your own or was there an option to just buy the PCB? I browsed eBay just briefly and there appears to be several options from various sellers anywhere from about $30 to $200 or so.
