There were times where you could find three sets of amps on the floor for easy comparisons. And others spread across the other listening rooms. Once he ran a pair of ASR Emitters each with its flotilla of three additional battery boxes that filled the entire space! As for "retro thrill", Harry favored Nordost cabling after comparing them with others. He's not alone with that preference. So do Carl Marchisotto of Nola and Bea Lamm and Luke Manley of VTL for their work and home systems.
Here was the last system found at Sea Cliff using the Nola Concert Grand Reference with Odin cabling throughout.
A more recent pic from the internet at an audio show in 2023 for Nola also with Odin.
As for VTL, fast forward if you don't want to watch the entire tour to about 18:30 where Bea describes their product evaluation system. She helped me years ago with a problem with one of my MB-450s that prevented me having to send them back for repair.
Nordost audio cable measures well, too. EDC (effective dielectric constant) quantifies the amount of energy stored rather than passing it through. It is essentially a product of L and C using a constant. Like golf, the ideal value is 1. Here are some comparative values I've calculated via Excel. JPS Labs is the single ended IC used for phono. 1505 is the Belden cable I use in the office in a DIY setting. Blue Truth II is the balanced cable I currently used as suggested by inmate Kal Rubinson. It's actually a later version with better metrics that matches Valhalla and available from Amazon!
With speaker cables, 5T00UP is a generic Belden cable while the JPS Labs Superconductor is what I use. Zip is always in the 3-4 range.
