There were times where you could find three sets of amps on the floor for easy comparisons. And others spread across the other listening rooms. Once he ran a pair of ASR Emitters each with its flotilla of three additional battery boxes that filled the entire space!
As for "retro thrill", Harry favored Nordost cabling after comparing them with others. He's not alone with that preference. So do Carl Marchisotto of Nola and Bea Lamm and Luke Manley of VTL for their work and home systems.
Here was the last system found at Sea Cliff using the Nola Concert Grand Reference with Odin cabling throughout.

As for VTL, fast forward if you don't want to watch the entire tour to about 18:30 where Bea describes their product evaluation system. She helped me years ago with a problem with one of my MB-450s that prevented me having to send them back for repair.
