Here are two different releases six years apart of the same record. It cracks me up how different the two record jackets are in terms of pictures and language.
Here is the 1966 jacket release , front and back:
Now, here is the same record released in 1972:
Follow Ups:
she did a tune with Bryan Adams "It's Only Love" and she killed it!
Ike used to beat her
what was acceptable in the mid-60s compared to what was acceptable 5 years later.
there seems to be an effort in progress to take us back to the good old days of such manly entitlements. I was a kid in the 60s & 70s and remember hearing about Tina's Ike experiences and thinking isn't that normal? That crap was all around me and most of my friends came from the same kind of places. Birds of a feather flock together. Can't put blinders back on people who never had them on in the first place.
the point was beating a human being, a woman. Don't matter when it was in time, 5 years ago or 5,000
I never lifted a hand to any of the women in my life, but this above reply misses the context of the times, and a social mindset that is still alive in much of the world. honor killings of women or genital mutilation is no big deal in a lot of places, but sexual abstinence for women sure is.I recently viewed a well made old John wayne movie, The Quiet Man".
in the lead up to the climactic ending , the wayne character was dragging his woman to town. to further establish his masculinity , on the way to town, a kindly old grandmother type stepped up an offered a stout tree branch, " to beat the nice lady". although wayne didn't have the stick in the next scene, the effective story telling device did reflect the times, as it was directed as slightly humorous , but normal . release date was 1952, and was a major motion picture with a quality cast and excellent director.
