I recently became aware of the band Renaissance. Any recommendations on vinyl would be appreciated.
Follow Ups:
The Carnegie Hall Concert.
you'll love anything from them, even early CD (which has some live)
HUGE Renaissance fan here! I have everything they have ever done on vinyl. My top (3) recommendations are:
"Ashes Are Burning"
"Scheherazade And Other Stories"
"A Song For All Seasons"That should be a good start, but all of their stuff is wonderful!
In addition: Annie Haslam-"Annie in Wonderland" is superb

I would add Prologue , my personal favorite.
Agreed on Annie in Wonderland , but as the saying goes, she could sing the phonebook and it would be worth hearing. Her 1989 s/t album is also worth a listen.
If you are just getting into Renaissance, the period from '72 - '75 is the band's artistic peak. They did great work before and after that, from the late '60s til the mid '80s, but you should start there to get the best impression.
. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .
