I never loan out LPs. Never have.
Who knows what they're gonna get played on?
About 12 years ago, some guy sold his classical collection to a local record store. Sticker with his name on all of them.
They were good. Many of them are now on my shelf.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
Follow Ups:
Records and books - they come and go. There's a genuine pleasure in recommending something to a friend that you know will enjoy it. It's worth the risk.
Like many of you I've been collecting records since the 60s. During the Great Digression (aka the CD era) I slowed down but never completely stopped. I've loaned out many that didn't make it home, and I've picked up a few along the way that I've no idea where they came from.
No regrets.
. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .
...and I guess LPs would be OK. Those polyvinyl platters are tougher than many of us think. I know I've got LPs that saw their share of groove-grinding console stereo changers in their previous lives, but they play just fine.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
a real classy album too. It was the Fugs.
