Been through that about 2 years ago; sold just about everything and got a good pair of headphones and a headphone amp, and now stream almost everything; kept my CD player and some CDs that appear not to be available on streaming. Haven't played a CD in almost a year now.

We hold on to things for sentimental value, but I'm not too embarrassed to say now that I feel free of audio-nervosa, as it were. I can enjoy the music without having to have the best sounding system I can afford, and I'm not interested in pursuing the absolute sound. I'm just happy to find music I like. There's a certain freedom in that.

Headphones are fantastic, aren't they? I recently bought a pair of STAX SR-X9000 cans with an SRM-700T driver unit. Wow! What sound quality!

Of course, I still like my Magnepan planar speakers, and I play them more than 50% of the time. However, it's hard to beat STAX electrostatic headphones.

  Hi John, had to give up the Maggies...but they were the only speaker for me. ; loved them.
