Hey I'm looking to test out a SUT to see if it will improve my setup. I've read a lot of positive reviews and would like to try it out before I purchase one.
This may be long stretch, but this forum has always been very generous.
I would like to borrow a SUT for a week or two to see if I need one for my setup. If you are local I would happily come get it. If you are not local but willing to lend one out, I would be happy to pay for the shipping both ways.
Here is my setup:
Acoustic Solid - Solid Wood MPX
Michelle Technoarm2 tonearm
Clearaudio Concept MC cartridge
PS Audio GCPH Phono preamp
If anyone has experience with a similar setup, that would be helpful too.
Thanks ahead of time

Unfortunately there is no generic SUT sound. Too many variables; transformer quality/materials and gain among them. And to add to the frustration, just because the formula says a certain gain is "correct" to load your cartridge, it often doesn't sound that way. Good luck.
Just buy an inexpensive used SUT. You can always resell it.
IMHO not the best idea to just buy a cheap SUT. I've had/owned 12 - 15 SUTs and they all sound different. Some not very good while others are just wonderful. Personally I don't listen without a SUT in the chain but YMMV
