Quid pro quo, as it were.
And thanks for the link to the 600 volt version. I wonder how they compare with the Soviet K40Y-9 paper in oil caps?
Follow Ups:
Used by a tech to restore a Fisher SA16. Caps replaced 4x ceramic disc caps.
PIO *should* be an improvement.
50v seemed odd to me. Factory spec is 500v. I reached out to the tech who immediately offered to address the issue, and has ordered 600v replacements.
Glad I did not use the amp before examining....
SA16 is essentially a stereo version of the Fisher 30a monoblock.
"MOD" seems to be a house brand for a guitar and pro parts company in AZ.
Caps are paper in mineral oil.
Good catch on the incorrect cap voltage prior to power-up.
I found the schematic for the Fisher SA16, but cap values aren't indicated. Are the 0.022 uF C7, C8, C9, and C10? If so, I'd be fairly certain that the MOD polyester and oil caps are going to outperform the original ceramic caps.
SA16 is a good sounding amp. The power supply for the amp also drives the preamp. If you aren't using the preamp, the power supply voltages will be different causing the 12ax7's to be run outside of spec.
The caps are claimed to be polyester film, not paper.
That's a nice amp!
