MC225 to the collection from a local collector. Restored a few years ago by Yves Beauvais. Came with original Sylvania 7591's which sound wonderful, but I've got a quad of Tung Sol's coming anyway. As expected, it sounds terrific. A little quicker then my MC30's, not quite as bottom heavy as my MC240. Have it mated with a MX110Z. Trying to cycle through each amp every couple of days until I decide which I want as a permanent in the main system.

Have fun with everything.
Ha! Not the intention at all.
And fun is what it's all about.

Here's my friend's system. McIntosh 225 restored by Mike Samra, C-20 awaiting restoration,Thorens TD-121 plinth built by me, Frazier Dixielanders updated w/Eminence woofers and Dayton H812/Selenium D220ti. I gave him the Fraziers. Fun system.
I have some of the "Frazies", I think 10" driver?. Do you know which Eminence he went with?.
I did it about 10 years ago and don't remember. Got the idea from AudioKarma I believe. See if you can find the thread. The guy added on to the back chamber which I did. It's just an extension that fits into the square opening on the back and then uses the original back plate to seal up. As you can tell I added extra braces on either side of the front to stiffen that 1/2" plywood they are made of. I think the guy added 1/4" MDF to all sides and veneered over that to stiffen the cabs. Too much work for me plus it makes them heavier. After triple hernia surgery, I gave them away. Too big and heavy for me anymore.
My friend likes them a lot. I changed out his horns after reading Michael Chua's review of the Selenium D220TI with that horn. Really flat response. The XO for the horn sits on top with a variable L-pad for level adjustment.
Thank you for that. I have not really tested them yet because I have low expectations. I don't think they are heavy or large as far as bass horns go.
Bet is sounds wonderful! Would love to hear what the 225 sounds like through those Frazier's.
I expect to be a proud, 1st time owner of a TD-124 in the coming days and am really looking forward to that.
Here's a picture of my current system.
Other than the Fraziers which he got from me, he inherited the McIntosh amp/pre and Thorens from his Dad. Great stuff!
I love hearing that. Keep the legacy alive!
Mac tubes are one of the greats in this hobby. Enjoy!!!!

I like the MC-225, FWIW. Very much.
all the best,

Thanks! It was the last frontier when it comes to Mc amps for me. Was happy that it more then met my expectations.
