I had just picked up a pair of wood bodied Minimus 7 speakers off of the street when I saw this post. They were looking rough, but I went to the hardware store for some of this stuff (walnut tint) and now they look quite respectable. Easy and fast, too.
I had a couple of pairs over the years with the metal cabinet. Also helped my brother set up a pair with the wood cabinet for their TV. They are decent for bed room or TV application. There is a crossover upgrade to be found on line if interested.
Anyway, nice find. Hope you enjoy yours.

I worked at Radio Shack a very long time ago...we would occasionally have sales on the Minimus 7's - think they were even two-for-one sales, iirc - and we'd always sell out. Wish I'd picked up a pair or two; they were attractive and decent-sounding speakers.
I remember I think the sale price of $29.95 ( 20. off) several times back then, that's when I grabbed some.
I also have a early (Japan made) metal pair in which I upgraded the capacitor, but did not do. the full crossover upgrade. i think I will the same with these. Some people say the woody body ones sound betterr—I guess I will find out.
I also had good success with their products on a couple of restoration projects.

Thank you to everyone for all the educational advice.
Best wishes,
David
