I briefly had the SX727 and it would NOT stay on frequency in FM. 15 oe 20 minutes? It'd skip and go off center badly.
They of course, at the fix it place, didn't give a (X*&^%) and so I ended up selling it. No more of that ffor me.
My Kenwood KA-7100 bought later is STILL working fine...but I'd like to replace the PS caps, at least.
Too much is never enough
Follow Ups:
Doesn't that receiver have wire wrapped posts on the PCBs? If so they are only friction bonded and can corrode over time. To remedy try cleaning the posts as best you can. Remove and neutralize the cleaner then use a good resin solder bushing resin on before heating, then flow solder. I did this on my Pioneer 9500II tuner getting it back to the performer it's known as and still in service today
It sucks to get old. It really sucks to get old and bitter.
The technique IS called 'Wire Wrap'
I don't know when it was given up for more.....relieable.....techniques. I know ribbon cable terminated in a small one-way plug (can't install wrong!) is handy....
Edge connectors on board also are easy so that one board can simply be plugged into another.
My old Kenwood is also wire wrap and build in sections so when I seperated out the pre from the main amps, it was obvious by just looking at how stuff was connected....
