Hi,my brother gave me his BIC 960 turntable to fix.It looks in mint shape but I can't get the platter off.I have removed the C clip locking ring and used W D Forty and letting it sit over night..I don't know how much oh a Herculian effort I should give without injuring this table.I had one going long ago but it's spinning some where else. Thanks for any advise....Mark Korda
Follow Ups:
The service manual at Vinylengine.com says removing the "C" clip should enable removal of the platter. You're on the right path. I've found that PB Blaster will free things that WD40 won't.

Batman, thanks for digging that up! I don't recall a rubber O ring unless I find it when I get the platter off and it installed on the under side of the platter spindle.I'm going to carefully reread what you sent me ...-.thanks Robin!
WD40 can help but a penetrating oil is really what you need. Another thing I've used for seized parts is heat like a soldering iron or a butane torch lighter. Unfortunately my experiences with the latter usually results in collateral damage! Proceed with caution.
Good Luck!
(I have a minty BIC 2 speed cassette deck that a friend gave me recently. I remember it from when we bought it shopping for stereo stuff many decades ago. They made some neat stuff.)
