Does anyone know how to choose the correct mounting kit for a power transistor?
I am thinking about building a custom "vintage amplfier" from scratch.
I am thinking sanken 2sc1403 and sanken 2sa745 power transistors.
I have found NOS mounting kits on e bay.
The foot print of the kit looks similar, but I can not tell for sure.
any knowledge would be appreciated....
Follow Ups:
The Sankens are a T03 mounting, so you will want to start with those measurements for the lead and mounting points.
As to the sizing, that can get tricky: thermal coefficient of the insulation under the device, radiating surface area of the heatsink, airflow around the heat sink, etc...
Or, as indicated above, bigger = better
There have been some clever installations over the years with showing off the heatsinks (Pass Labs Aleph) or Hiding the heatsinks (luxman, McIntosh)
Your choice

Hotter they run, the shorter the life. So bigger heatsinks the better. Max dissipation of each of those parts is 70 watts, so size accordingly.
