I was thinking of some cheap sound tiles in my room. my idea was saving toilet rolls paper rolls filled with something different. cut to different sizes and glue to a panel and place the panels behind my speakers as sound tiles would that work?

You guys give me ideas some of which I wouldn't necessarily call great. Now I'm wondering about stacking some of those mega packs of rolls of TP in the corners for some poor man's bass traps? Maybe paper towels?
You might consider these tiles that are reasonably cheap. They are not foam. I don't think these are ideal for bass traps. I used them mainly to stop back slap in corners. My room is small so I don't want deeper panels. These tiles come in different colors. I do have deeper foam where the walls meet the ceiling.
You must use a lot of tp.
It would work better if you glue the tubes together with no backing. Also get some speaker or upholstery stuffing and put some in the tubes. Hang it a few inches away from the wall.

Hi Dericmc, I like your idea.I made a sound absorbent wall with paperback books once.I used a real book shelf speaker. the Realistic Minimus 7's.Little black Japanese tanks. They would fit on a book shelf but I put paperback books on the sides, top, and bottom with the Minimus's in the center.Kind of a sound absorbent baffle built around the 7's....Mark Korda
thats a good idea also
