You might try Bill Thalmann at Music Technologies in Springfield, VA. Be prepared to wait; he has a backlog.
he even said that they often just buy a replacement for test equipment that goes bad. Too much throw away but then if the cost of repair exceeds the replacement cost, what are you going to do when in business?

Bill is one of the nicest guys I have ever met in the audio business, and he is very honest. I have a Sencore LC75 that has become unreliable, some sort of intermittent problem. I have resolved to try to fix it myself, some day when the mood strikes me to take it apart. I am hoping it's just a bad electrolytic or a poor connection to the output BNC connector. Bill was not inclined to touch it. Several years ago, I gave him a perfectly good LC50 for use in his shop, after I bought the LC75 which is a more capable unit. The LC102 is really cool but much more complex inside, no doubt. You can now buy inexpensive hand held meters (made in China) that do pretty much all of the functions of even an LC102.
DE-5000. But the LC 102 could put actual voltages on the cap and test them at that and even form them.

John,
You're cross-posting, and I mentioned this in another thread already.
It simply doesn't make financial sense for a repair shop to take on a job like this. It's a very old piece of test equipment and costs will quickly be more than the unit is worth.
If it were a classic piece of test equipment from HP/Tektronix/etc, it might be another story. :)
I suggest to try and repair it yourself. It's a good learning experience, if nothing else.
Dave.
I often don't see things in other threads that I don't visit that I may be able to give help on myself, so I figured the same here. I have been on AA for almost 23 years and just looking for additional eyes and help on the subject but it looks like it has run its course.
Thanks for your input.

I just can't understand why no one repairs these any longer. Seems like a throw away system, more and more.

any longer. Too bad. I would guess it is something simple, since I was testing a cap but seems times are changing.

Mr. Carlson's Lab on youtube for a project video?. Well, he has tons of his own stuff to go through, so...long shot. he prefers old test equip.and radios.
looked for a page on the web. Did find a phone number but it doesn't work.
