What is the correct temp setting for a heat gun when putting on shrink wrap over 14 gauge wire? TIA.
Follow Ups:
Mine has 3 settings:
1. Off
2. Fan
3. Fan and heater.
The first two setting were taking me too long so I tried the third setting and it really sped things up.

Thanks for all the responses from both here and the headfi board. I've decided to go with a Shunyata Hydra 8 feeding Mothra Cable into an outboard tube power supply with dental caps into an isolated Alps pot for maximum control in 0.003 degree incriments.

I usually tweak my heat guns first - you know, upgrade the wiring and the PC, replace the caps with silver foil caps and upgrade the resistors. I also like to dampen the chassis because I find that it can resonate frequencies around 30.2 Ghz based on my testing. I then add a 3 position switch as opposed to the stock 2-position switch. For the middle position, I wire in a high quality pot that allows me to attenuate the heat setting to my exact needs based on the formulation and color selection of the heat shrink tubing. I got this idea from the little voices in my head. Those voices also tell me to lick trees.
If it has low + high, use low setting and see how that works. If it takes to long to shrink, crank it up.
The heat gun I use has two settings On and Off.
I find the ON setting works best.
