I don't know why you purchased a 5 pin one, but:
From the datasheet, pin 3, the middle one, is not connected to anything.
Cut it off and use the remaining 4 pins.
Check the connections carefully.
Follow Ups:
I bought the bridges from Percy Audio, but the catalog there didn't say anything about 5 pins.
If the middle pin is connected to nothing, I wonder what´s its purpose?
Tweekeng is correct. The three phase package is an industry standard form factor.
The leadframe is purchased as a one piece stamped assembly from the copper fabricator. It may even be purchased on a reel, with several hundred assembly frames in line. I've seen it setup as 10 or 20 frames in line, and that set is encapsulated at one shot.
To purchase a different stamped leadframe for single phase product lines would use slightly less copper, but the tooling and stocking cost certainly exceeds the extra copper. Using the 3 phase setup allows them to use the same handling equipment, same die attach equip, same molding equipment, far more efficient.
Just be careful with pinout, as has been stated.
Cheers, John
They use the same machinery for other devices that need five legs (like a three phase bridge in the same package) and its cheaper to put all the legs on and not connect one (there may even be three pairs of diodes inside) than it is to retool for a batch that needs less legs.
