Here's an alternative you may like better: hook the Hammond into your Hydra and hook all your digital gear through another power strip into the unused second wall outlet on the R-1. Separating the digital from the analog is quite important, while placement of the choke might be a bit less so (not insignificant, just less so).
Follow Ups:
Alan and Bart, thank you. Bart, The Hydra has dedicated outlets for digital and analog. I have my components inserted accordingly. Do you think I would be further ahead by not using the Hydra for the digital components? Wouldn't the choke only be affecting the analog components
in that scenario? On a separate point, when is the use of the 193M more efficacious than using the 193L? Thanks in advance for any help you provide.
Bart
The choke will effect everything. The effect with digital is profound....some of the best sound you will ever hear.
As far as the 193L vs the 193M....placement doesn't really matter. Use the 193L for single components and the 193M for multiple (power strip applications). Also don't be afraid to piggyback 193L's in your 193M filtered power strip. The sound quality gets better and better.

Hi Alan, a couple of quick questions:
Do you mean that in a power conditioner environment (Monster HTS 5000, essentially a filter & surge protector) that one would place a 193M in any of the available outlets in the conditioner, even though the manual says that the outlets are "individually filtered/ isolated"?
Would it be better to place the 193M in the spare outlet where the conditioner plugs in to the wall, and then perhaps plug in one or more 193L's into the conditioner?
Lastly, when you say "The sound quality gets better and better", could you define what kind of improvements one might expect from multiple 193L units, such as better definition, width/ depth/ harmonic richness, etc?
Thanks kindly!
Last night, i plugged CDP directly into the SWO-XXX and integrated amp was in PLC. I didn't hear any difference. Just curious (pardon me for naive question), since the choke is to reduce harmonic ringing on the line, does cdp need plc for it or it's still needed?
Since you mention that the choke is connected to PLC instead of the wall outlet, can you please tutor me in detail if possible how effective of the choke when connected to the wall and the PLC?
thanks.
Hey Mike...you can still use the PLC for added parallel filtering and surge protection. Like I have said many times....I use isolation transformers, parallel filtering (PE's), choke, shakti's, and qrt...all add something to the equation.
Alan
One of these days you have to break down and buy one. The Hammond choke upgrade on the a/c is huge. It's performance is in another league compared to the iso-transformer method.
Happy Tweaking!!!
Alan
