i've got an electrician coming on thursday to install 3 dedicated 20a outlets. i have three oyaide R1 and i also have 1 ps audio soloist. i was thinking of using two R1 for my amps, and the one soloist to use for my front end.
would you use the soloist or the oyaide R1 for that third line?

I can tell you ..Wategate 381 Gold better than Oyaide R1....a lot.

First off, U may want to get the Wattgate name correct and 2nd, if U don't mind, please post your findings on what areas the Wattgate 381 is "a lot" better than the R1.
Cheers
IME, the stock PS Audio Power Port is a "weak link". Many folks (and I concur) find the Power Port to sound sub-par when compared to other AC outlets, particularly when compared to the stellar R1...
IMHO, replace the stock PS Audio Power Port that's installed in the PS Audio Soloist with one of your Oyaide R1's. Then install the other two R1's and the upgraded Soloist for use with your three dedicated lines.
just my 2 cents
i tried to replace the power port w/ an oyaide inside the soloist, but after opening it up some, it is NOT straightforward at ALL. i put the case back on and put it back in the box. i'm goin to use the oyaide R1 for the outlet, which will at least leave me the flexibility to add/change power conditioning after the outlet...
Dear DC, While I haven't tried all AC sockets, the Oyaide R-1 is really good. JKwinn
........get rid of that Power Port in the Soloist and drop the R1 in it's place for your front end.
What power cord will U be using from the wall to the Soloist?

i have an oyaide tunami gpx that will run into a bpt unit with two separate trannies, one for my preamp, one for my dac. i then have a monster 3600 that will feed my computer (music server), router, tv and dvr.i also have a shunyata taipan i might use to run from the soloist and a volex, altho i'm not sure i have the right volex, i didn't think it sounded all that amazing (purchased it about 2 months ago, maybe it's not the original?)
so my electrician will be able to replace the power port w/ the R1 easily enough?
Sounds like your set to go on the power cords.
"so my electrician will be able to replace the power port w/ the R1 easily enough?"
I believe that task will fall to U since the soloist is basically a UO packaged in a wall mount unit. Hopefully it won't be too difficult but I'm willing to bet it would be well worth it :-)
Cheers
