ken bernacky death
Ken Bernacky passed away 12/26/2020 about two weeks after he moved the shop to 5 John Street. IDK what happened to him; he seemed to be slipping downhill mentally over the last two years - but if you go over to 5 John Street there is a sign on the door that instructs you what to do to get your gear back. I think he passed before Thanksgiving. I happened to call him on the day he was moving. RIP Ken - you deserve the peace aol

Just saw this...
Called his shop earlier today to check on my Marantz 10B that he has had for over 15 years. Maybe closer to 20... Since I did not really need the tuner back it became sort of a running joke that one of us would no longer be here when he finally fixed it...I would call him every several years and we would talk about dogs, pizza and everything but the tuner...
My fault for not going up there to pick it up.
R.I.P. Ken...
Sad to hear it. RIP Ken. I'll say a prayer for you.I met Ken about 10 years ago when he aligned and modified my Sansui TU-717.
He was quite a character. I like the pic on his website (Stereo Surgeons) that shows him and his dog, Arf, in his old car traveling down I-84 (her head's poking through the sun roof, and she's wearing sunglasses). They are finally reunited.

Sorry to see him go. He did a good job on my Yamaha CT-7000 many years ago.
RIP.
