Yo! Timbo! Still carrying the Torch. I was lucky to get my APS-13 before they went out and it still flies on my roof after perhaps 20 New England winters.
Hi Tim,
Yes, APS has been gone for several years. Finding replacements has become almost impossible. DIY is almost the only way to get a hi-gain antennae these days.
Are you familiar with Brian Beezely's page. Some pretty good info there and if I remember correctly there are some mod instructions to improve existing/available antennaes. Here:
HA
But I have a locally mfd one now.
Plus a DTV antenna.
Both antennas are aimed at Black Mountain Tower. Over a ridge just Nth of us and then another > 10 km
I'm only interested in two FM stations, one of which has a repeater on a hill just to the left of the antenna array, and comes in quite strongly.
We have three SS FM rcvrs through the house, and one valve front-end item, which used to be a simulcast rcvr it now does Stereo FM with a Welsh SS decoder, and has wide-band audio (13Khz) AM.

I'm waiting for someone to post a U-tube video on how to build one's own Yagi in case my fails catastrophicly.
Maybe info on the ARRL site. Quite east to build, you can use
PVC pipe as the boom, and brass or alum. TIG/brazing rod for
the 1/4 wavelength elements. Length and spacing can be easily calculated
to the bandwidth of the FM band. Normally 1/4 wavelength long.I have their antenna handbook, and it's 2" thick!.

On line, that is.
And there's quite a bit about building them.

What about using radio Ham antennas for Fm radio ?
No, much easier to find a TV antenna, plus the FM band is already
in its bandwidth. Ham antenna's don't include the FM band.
It might work - acceptably - in a given context.

You could take a regular TV yagi antenna and trim down the longer
elements to match the lower end of FM band.
be wrong.

Close enough of you want an EASY cheap mod. Otherwise build a proper one.
