You may find the the St-2 is worse than the dipole. It has less gain, no matter the claims.
Do you have a loft?

The spread double rhombic in the article might cover all your transmitter directions. And, use FM Fool site for those.
I'm very lucky to have just two stations I care about, one's small repeater is behind my 7 element antenna, but by less than 1km, and the other is >10km away, but powerful!

Totally agree. That has been my experience.

In fact it is a pleasure-boat 2-way radio antenna. Why is it that so few people get that an antenna is the most important part of a radio system, and has to be suitable for the bandwidth?
AND that the tuner / 'radio' is second in importance?
The OP has had this pointed out before!
One more thing? Magnum Dynalab, is a 'marketing'* driven company, and does not make valve tuners. The valves are used for line-output audio-signal duty.

I'm not sure I understand how to make that antenna. If the ST-2 is low gain maybe I should keep my dipole. I can tweak the reception by moving it slightly.

I've looked at the silver ribbon antenna but not sure if the size has a place, but I reconsider it with my wife and current decor.
Keep the dipole-
Go to FMFool.com - type in your Zip Code, Elevation for the antenea and see what your polars are - aiming the dipole will have a huge effect-
Timbo is ON the Money - a Rhombic is the best - and the instructions are in the FAQ section
THere are better tuners then the Nad - even SS-
Kenwood Trio
Sansui - 700 and 900 series
and don't forget the MR-74

The rhombic antenna is huge so not good in our townhome, and vintage tuners would be out of place in my system. That is why I'm looking for something more modern. I can't take over our living room w/ a stereo system.
Did you look at the article in AA's FAQ here?!

I'm sorry, but that huge antenna in the family/ dining area of our small townhome is not visually acceptable.
