Hate to see that happen. If the box is damaged, UPS may be liable. Otherwise, send it back.

and I spoke with Mike Zucarro today and he is going to look at it and do any repairs and align it for me. Just a bummer that the person didn't listen to my instructions on how to pack and ship it. The cabinet was really nice too, I still may be able to salvage the cabinet.
I've shipped a bunch over the years and know how to pack. That includes a lot of turntables without incident. I sold a completely restored Dual 1219 and it was trashed. The buyer was livid. I didn't blame him. I returned his money and told him to keep the table. We all make mistakes. Glad the seller stepped up. Many don't.

The concept that it's not the shipper's fault as long as the box isn't damaged is absolute BS. You shouldn't have to pack something to survive a 10 ft drop.

told me a long time ago to pack the items to survive a 4' drop. I was like What......-...-.
I recall that in the 80s the Pink Triangle turntable boxes had 'useless if dropped' printed on them. I don't think many were ruined so the boxes had to be good. A UPS driver who hung at the same stereo store I did used to tell us horror stories about handling packages.
